This was no boating accident..

The past is a gaping hole.. Where have I heard that before? Hmmph.

I remember her face. I can still see it when the leaves fall from the cracked cherry tree. This time of year always cuts through. Anyway, ran into them the other day. Still going strong.

Gonna stretch me out a nice plot in Big bear. Closing time. The last electron has left the building. Don't know nothing else.

Maybe gonna find some answers. Maybe not. They say don't try to be a great man, just be a man. Cliches are like cop TV shows, everybody's got a favorite.

Anyway, I had to turn to take one last look. Given away my position even so. She's wicked. She'll take your good and turn it into a sharp spiked ball and knock you over the head with it. But you know what....its too late. To walkaway. And it's too late to run away. From what you've done. And what you created. And face the fear. Courage will not escape you. It will not escape.

This was no boating accident..
Well - it is the end of the line for my former brother-in-law. After his divorce from my sister he has packed up his meager belongings, put them into a u-haul, put his head down and drove away to Ohio. Don't feel bad for him, he deseves it. Anyway, he is planning on driving with his car in tow all the way there. He has no experience driving in the snow. He doesn't even know how to put chains on. He has never driven on ice before. After all that has happened, I do wish him luck. He will need it. I just can't believe someone could just leave their kids behind to weasel out of child support payments. That's inexcusable.

Francis left this morning to go to KLAX to go back to Lousiana. I saw her drive away, I was turning right, and she was turning left. For a minute our eyes met, but I don't think she recoginized me. Anyway she had been staying at my mother-in-law's house with her mom, while they settled up some personal affair due to her father dying. Apparently Francis's grandpa had some major issues and left nothing for her or her mom. Sad. I knew Francis years ago and she was pretty, smart, and had the look of a promising life ahead. When I saw her today, she looked tired, lonely, and depressed. Apparently her mom is a bit of a pill popper - I hope she doesn't end up the same. I wish her good luck too. She will need it as well.

This was no boating accident..
Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.

-Sir Winston Churchill

Just thought it would be appropriate to quote something for Veterans day. Happy V-day to all vets.

This was no boating accident..

You don't buy a Harley with your mind, you buy it with your heart and your balls.

-Robert Patrick

Maybe someday. Right now I'd just like to ride my RM250. Time, time, time. Where can I buy some? Such is the weekend. Like the light glinting off of a passing jet. It comes and goes so fast.

I got a week off coming up, perhaps time will go fast up to that point. Probably not. Daylight savings doesn't help either. Does anybody like it? It just screws me up for weeks.

This was no boating accident..
Sorry boys, all the stitches in the world can't sew me together again. Lay down... lay down. Gonna stretch me out in Fernandez funeral home on Hun and Ninth street. Always knew I'd make a stop there, but a lot later than a whole gang of people thought... Last of the Moh-Ricans... well maybe not the last. Gail's gonna be a good mom... New improved Carlito Brigante... Hope she uses the money to get out. No room in this city for big hearts like hers... Sorry baby, I tried the best I could, honest... Can't come with me on this trip, Loaf. Getting the shakes now, last call for drinks, bars closing down... Sun's out, where are we going for breakfast? Don't wanna go far. Rough night, tired baby... Tired...

I can't seem to get off the movie quotes lately. The idea for this quote came into my head I was driving through Pacoima on the way to work. I saw someone walking down the street, and she turned the head and for a second our eyes met. Then I heard Carlito's words. His careful, low, thoughtful timbre.

"It could be a different time, a different day. A different place, two different people. But today it's just me, looking back at you."

Last call for drinks, bars closing down... Sun's out, where are we going for breakfast? Don't wanna go far.

OK, here's your motivation. You're lost, you're angry in the woods, and no one is here to help you. There's a witch and she keeps leaving **** outside your door. There's no one here to help you! She left little trinkets, you took one of them, she ran after us. There's no one here to help you! We walked for 15 hours today, we ended up in the same place! There's no one here to help you, THAT'S your motivation! THAT'S YOUR MOTIVATION!

For the final quote I went with a film from 1994. Three Montgomery college students went into the woods, and never returned. The real beauty to this movie is the setup. It really started out with a documentary that preceded it. This documentary aired on the sci-fi channel and duped everybody. It was unprecidented and completely original in it's approach. It's either a love it or hate it affair, and most true horror fans will recognize the genius of the film. Not only the way it was shot, but it's great setup and finish that has people still discussing it's ramifications.

The gene pool is a little shallow here. Dive in and you'll crack your skull open.

Nearing the end of the Halloween quote phase of my blog. One more to go, and one more day before Oct 31st. Man, I need some time off.

Note: Being a horror fan, I thought it would be fun for the next six
days to post a new horror movie quote and
to see if anyone knows what movie it's from. Here is the six of
seven. (See above)

"I'm gonna have to be taking your car today. See I have some top secret clown business that supersedes any plans that you might have for this here vehicle."

I actually met "Capt Spaulding" (hint) he lives in my hometown, and he is actually a really, really, nice guy. You'd never know that that's the same guy in this movie; who's line is the subject of today's Halloween movie quote.

Note: Being a horror fan, I thought it would be fun for the next seven days to post a new horror movie quote and to see if anyone knows what movie it's from. Here is the fourth of seven. (See above)
